Adoption of Fancy Poultry Exhibit at Singapore Zoo

In an eggshell, it’s all about creating a positive impact on people and our feathered friends.

A Stellar CSR Initiative

Chew’s Agriculture is passionate about making the world a better place, while building a thriving business. With sustainability initiatives that help shape a healthier tomorrow, we are committed to operating and engaging in ways that benefit society and preserve the environment.

2022 was an exciting year for Chew’s Agriculture in furthering our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. Most notably, we adopted the Fancy Poultry Exhibit at the world-famous Singapore Zoo in October 2022 for a year. Funding for this project was possible thanks to the continued support of loyal consumers. Proceeds from the sales of our Cage-Free Eggs in all major retail stores, including NTUC Fairprice, Cold Storage and Redmart, helped fund this adoption.

What’s So Fancy

Taking the lead in post-pandemic community engagement activities, this synergistic partnership with Singapore Zoo aims to offer unique experiences, preserve nature and enhance the lives of the younger generation. Fancy fowls, friendly hens and delightful ducks are the stars of the zoo’s Fancy Poultry Exhibit, making it a squawking success! The Exhibit is one of the zoo’s newest exhibits and has attracted hordes of fowl-loving fans since its opening. It is strategically located in Rainforest Kidzworld, the exclusive zone for children to interact with farm animals in a safe habitat and participate in kid-friendly activities.

Now, if you ask a child, “Where do chickens come from?”, their response would not be “from the supermarket” but “from the Fancy Poultry Exhibit at Singapore Zoo”. The primary objective of Chew’s Agriculture in this project goes beyond showcasing poultry to zoo visitors. More importantly, it is an educational intervention where junior wildlife enthusiasts learn about what makes happy hens, their care, natural habitat, lifespan, natural habits, and how healthy eggs are produced.

Having the chance to watch the cheeky chicks perch, forage for food, roam and settle in their sandy pits cage-free is an absolute joy. Better yet, children get to play with the chickens, stroke their fancy plumes and feed them in an outdoor environment at different intervals of the day. Currently, the Fancy Poultry Exhibit houses a growing number of healthy hens and ducks, which the zoo indicates are highly productive animals thanks to their comfortable habitat. Never before has there been an opportunity for visitors to get up close and personal with these creatures.

Key Objectives

Chew’s Agriculture is one of Singapore leading sustainable farms producing better-quality eggs. Equally important to us is providing fascinating and educational wildlife experiences to Singaporeans and travellers to the Lion City. Here, we play a pivotal part with Singapore Zoo in protecting the biodiversity of Singapore and the region.

We are proud to work together on this exceptional project that connects people from all over the world to our native fowls in a world-class habitat. It is also exemplary of embracing sustainability best practices in our daily operations. Ultimately, we achieved the sustainability aims of contributing towards an ecologically sensitive programme, and promoting inclusion by making this exhibit affordable and accessible to all.

Additionally, we have gained the love and trust of many. It is hoped that every egg product purchased and egg meal experienced brings back great memories of fun times at the Fancy Poultry Exhibit.

What's Next

Among the many projects undertaken for 2023, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are embedded in the DNA of Chew’s Agriculture. We are planning for a year of sustainable egg production as well as improving the lives of our local communities.

Stepping up our CSR game is certainly an important way forward as we are purpose-driven to carry out responsible practices that are better for the people and the planet. It’s our time to Rise and Shine!
